CHUNKY SWEET FRIED SWEET POTATOES (INDONESIAN STREET FOOD)

Venga, I must say the recipe followed on this post are embarrassingly easy, you can cook this recipe with eyes closed :D. Yet the taste are super satisfying, chunky sweet, salty sweet potatoes and if you enjoy while it warm, trust me it is heaven. My daughter was super happy with this snack and it is her new favourite, she just sit in the kitchen waiting Β and just eating right away even though it was hot.

This snack are very typical Indonesian street food, in Jakarta you can find the street vendor selling this snack for every 500meters, Indonesian loves snacking fried food, from fried banana, fried vegetable fritter, fried sweet potatoes, fried banana coating in very thin pastry, fried spring roll, fried tofu, fried cassava and that is so far I remember.

It is like tradition, to have this snack during evening time and enjoy it with hot tea, even though you can not have it every day, I think it is calorie bomb and un healthy. However to have it once or twice a week I think would be healthy for your happiness hehehe. My mother used to make this snack (specifically fried sweet potatoes) during rainy season, when cold and rainy outside, it such a comfort food, we enjoy this snack, with hot tea in family room and everyone are gather around, while my dad depict a story about his young adventure and telling a lot of joke, ah this such memories. I wish my daughter remember the moment when she sit in the kitchen waiting for this snack cooked *sob.

CHUNKY SWEET FRIED SWEET POTATOES (INDONESIAN STREET FOOD)

INGREDIENT

  • 2 Big size sweet potatoes, half, then slice it 2-3cm thick
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 50ml water
  • Vegetable oil to fry

HOW TO

  1. Soak the sweet potatoes with the water and sea salt, leave it at least 15 minute.
  2. In medium pan and medium heat, put inside the vegetable oil, wait until the oil hot, then put inside the sweet potatoes, fried it until golden.
  3. That is it, ready to serve ( I am embarrassed πŸ˜€ )
